about this project

This villa was designed as a celebration of the Tropics, with its juxtaposition of modern and traditional/historic design. It was conceived of as a small village, with a layering of organisational axes, buildings of different periods, and the placement of buildings that frame a variety of spaces that are passageways, plazas or gathering spaces. Richly detailed hardwood doors and windows provide a celebration of the openings in the stark and minimal white walls.
