about this project

This competition entry for the Grenada House of Parliament took second place among 54 entrants. The design provides a ‘beacon of democracy’ – utilising a circular plan form, which maximises both site views and climatic context. The aerodynamic form dissipates destructive hurricane winds and channels gentler breezes to form convective cooling currents around the structure. The truncated conical form houses the central chamber and acts as a pointed symbol on this hillside site which overlooks the carenage. Green roofs, rainwater collection and pv panels are incorporated. This project was a collaboration with consultants across the region.
