this branch for republic bank at tarouba capitalizes on the bank’s desire for flexible, open-plan banking. the project uses the principles of passive design to minimize heat gain and optimize user-comfort. the site presented geotechnical challenges [tarouba “sapotay” clay] that were solved using low-tech sustainable principles – continuous flight auger [cfa] piles and a geo-grid/ bermed earth wall instead of reinforced concrete retaining walls.
